ABOUT THE ROLE  

The Grounds person is responsible for maintaining the upkeep of the hotel perimeter and grounds to include, but are not limited to: parking garage, pet relief areas, parking lots, public areas, pool areas. This position is an added layer of support for the housekeeping department and responsibilities will also include, emptying trash bins, cleaning, power washing,  preparing linen to be sent to vendor for cleaning, receive linen and prepare and store in linen closets, and any other task and/or project as assigned by supervisor/manager.   

SCOPE OF WORK + TEAM 

  • Reports to the Director of Housekeeping/Housekeeping Manager  

  • Supports housekeeping team  

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Walk all designated areas/zones at beginning and end of shift; empty all trash cans, empty ash urn receptacles, remove trash and/or debris from grass and public areas, ensuring proper presentation.  

  • Clean all public areas in the prescribed manner while following safety and security procedures and regulations to include but not limited to: parking garage and lots, service areas, pet relief areas, etc.  

  • Remove soiled linen, terry and trash from the service areas and take to the appropriate locations in the prescribed manner. Must be able to lift, push, pull at least 50 lbs. 

  • Aid housepersons as needed (i.e. preparing, sorting and transporting linen, etc.). 

  • Report any missing/found articles, damage or merchandise problems to the Housekeeping Supervisor. 

  • Support Housekeeping preventative maintenance (PM) projects such as carpet cleaning, power washing, etc.  

  • Be able to communicate and respond at all times, in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner to guests, managers and fellow associates. Report all guest issues and complaints to management 

  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned 

Qualifications 

EXPERIENCE: 

Prior Experience: 

  • 1+ years Previous housekeeping experience. 

Subject Expertise: 

  •  Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to Supervisor. 

  • Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the Associate Handbook. 

  • Must be able to effectively communicate to guests, management, and coworkers 

  • Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy 

  • Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision 

  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment 

  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required. 

  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. 

  • Ability to stand for the entire shift. 

  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests. 

  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines. 

  • Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion. 

OTHER EXPECTATIONS: 

  • Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Associate Handbook. 

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures. 

  • Hours Required: Must primarily work during Springboard Hospitality business hours, while understanding that the hotel business functions 24/7 and some weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior Experience:
    • 1+ Previous experience in related position.
  • Education:
    • High School diploma or GED required
  • Subject Expertise:
    • Must have special skills and experience in pool maintenance and Grounds keeping.
    • Must have skills and ability to handle pool and grounds keeping Equipment.
    • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all property safety and security procedures as required maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees as well as guests.
    • Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to Supervisor.
    • Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the Associate Handbook.
    • Must be service oriented with excellent customer service and sales skills
    • Must be able to effectively communicate to guests, management, and coworkers and read, write and understand the English language
    • Must be energetic and outgoing
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
    • Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision
    • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
    • Must be able to understand and work with basic financial information and solve basic arithmetic problems
    • Must be able to type 45 wpm and have the ability to input data and access information on the computer
    • Must have proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Opera; preferred.
    • Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion.

  • Travel required: As needed for hotel familiarization, content creation shoots and to meet with colleagues.
  • Hours Required: Must primarily work during Springboard Hospitality business hours, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (PST), while understanding that the hotel business functions 24/7 and some weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required.
